Brent is a visionary host, artist, and father who has called Playa Maderas home, on and off, for the past 5 years. It’s here that he met Alex and welcomed the birth of their first child, and experienced the initiation of a profound transformation—both personally and creatively. Maderas isn’t just a backdrop for Brent; it’s a living, breathing place that helped shape him into who he is today.

As your concierge, local guide, activities leader and photographer, Brent shares his perspective and experience of this place, people, and rhythms that make this part of Nicaragua so special - a space to grow, clarity to create, and a community rooted in presence and purpose.

The clarity, inspiration, and alignment he found here continue to shape both his work and purpose. This is the catalyst that set him on the path toward creating Born As Art, a deeply personal and visionary project that he now has the freedom to build and work on remotely.

Alexandra knows Nicaragua more intimately than the country she was born in. After nine years of living there, it continues to shape her soul and sense of purpose.

Originally from the Netherlands, she’s lived, studied, and trained around the world—from Australia and Thailand to India and the U.S.—but nowhere compares to Nicaragua. It’s where she felt true freedom, creative energy, and the deep grounding that helps you remember who you really are.

As a transformational coach, Alexandra helps people awaken to their most authentic lives. Doing this work in-person, surrounded by the nature and spirit of Playa Maderas, brings a powerful new depth to the process.

Together with Brent, she co-created this residency to help others experience the magic of living, working, and growing in a place that offers space, inspiration, and genuine community. She leads the wellness pillar of the experience, guiding participants into deeper connection with themselves through nature, creativity, and conscious living.
